If - Clauses

Para quem está precisando de uma ajudinha no inglês, mais precisamente no assunto de if-clauses, esses esquemas podem ser muito úteis e de suma importância.

Primeiramente, vamos entender o que são if-clauses: sentenças que expressam condição.

O elemento principal das if-clauses é o IF, que equivale a SE na língua portuguesa.

1ª if-clause

Estrutura da frase:

If + sujeito + verbo no Simple Present + complemento

Sujeito + will + verbo na forma base (sem "TO") + complemento

Como colocar o verbo no Simple Present:

Quando o sujeito for I, you, we, they - o verbo permanece igual

Quando o sujeito for he, she, it - o verbo sofre acréscimo de S, ES ou IES

Acréscimo de S, ES ou IES:

• ES: para verbos terminados em O, SS, SH, CH, X e Z.
• IES: para verbos terminados em consoante + y (tira o Y e acrescenta IES)
• S: outras terminações

Exemplo: If I study (to study) hard, I will pass (to pass).

If he travels (to travel), he will buy (to buy) you a gift.

We will call (to call) you if we have (to have) time.

She will clean (to clean) up the house if the maid doesn't come (negative-to come).

Negativa e interrogativa do Simple Present (DO, DOES)

Don't = I, you, we, they (+ verbo na forma base)

Doesn't = he, she, it (+ verbo na forma base)
